I am a multi-media artist interested in exploring themes of cultural identity, displacement and erasure in the urban landscape. By way of combining painting, sculpture, and installation, my work breaks out of the traditional painting format, resulting in assemblages that propose painting as object.

My practice is characterized by a fascination with materials that blur the line between reality and artifice. I create hyperreal replicas of urban detritus such as concrete barriers, traffic cones, and various other objects that typically exist in construction sites. These objects are of interest to me because of their inherent connotations of gentrification and authority within the city.

My work with clothing and specific streetwear brands highlights these garments as symbols of identity and systemic scrutiny. The hooded sweatshirt becomes a representation of presence and absence – reckoning with the complexities of one’s desire to be seen, but how visibility can be a vulnerable space for people of color to navigate.
